Selecting Boat Trim Cylinders
Most original Mercruiser trim cylinders have a casting number in the side of the main black tube. That casting number can also tell you exactly which trim cylinder you'll need to order to replace your old or damaged cylinder.
If your trim cylinders are badly corroded, damaged or missing, don't worry. We'll explain in a moment how to order the correct ones, even if you don't know the casting number.
If you know what your casting number starts with, order replacement trim cylinder for appropriate boat side per the following chart:
If Trim Cylinder Casting Number starts with: |
Starboard side Trim Cylinder |
Port side Trim Cylinder |
|---|---|---|
98704 or 98703 |
||
14034 or 14035 |
||
815954 or 815935 |
Now, it's a little trickier if you don't know or can't determine the casting number from your existing trim cylinders. It can still be done, so don't panic. Here's how to determine the correct trim cylinders:
| Boat | Starboard side Trim Cylinder |
Port side Trim Cylinder |
|---|---|---|
Alpha One Gen 2, 1991 or newer |
||
Boat has a Bravo Drive |
||
Boat is from 1981 to 1990 |
